About the Name
Ascoli Piceno is the name of a province and village in eastern central Italy in the region of Marche. Our maternal grandfather, Romano Vallorani, called it home prior to his immigration to America in the early 1900s. Every year the village is host to a renaissance festival called La Quintana that, among other things, celebrates the role of horses in the region’s agricultural and military history.

Following a visit to the festival in 1988, Deanna became enchanted with the town and the sound of its name (pronounced As'-Ko-Lee Pea-Chay'-No) and decided one day she would purchase a farm in her native Chester County and name it after this ancient city.  In 2003 her plans came to fruition.
