An infusion of slot revenues into Pennsylvania racetracks means great things for the Pennsylvania Breeding Fund Program. All registered Pennsylvania-Breds are eligible to participate in the PA Breeding Fund Program.

To be eligible for PA-Bred registration, a horse must meet two criteria:

1. The foaling requirement to be born in Pennsylvania; and

2. For the foal crop of 2000 and beyond, a 90 day residency requirement.
Either the foal or its dam must reside in PA for at least 90 days during the year of foaling. The 90 days do not need to be consecutive; this requirement may be satisfied by returning the foal or mare to PA after weaning.

The breeder of a registered PA-Bred receives an award whenever that PA-Bred finishes first, second or third in any pari-mutuel race in the state (20-30% of purse share earned depending upon whether or not the sire is a registered PA stallion).

The PA-Bred owner bonus program rewards the owners of PA-Bred horses finishing first, second or third in designated overnight races at Philadelphia Park and Penn National (10% of the purse share).

Ascoli Piceno has several resident brood mares and bred its first mares in the Spring of 2005. Our goal is to develop a solid string of well bred mares that will be bred to talented young sires and produce a plethora of PA-Bred foals that will be fully eligible for PA breeder and owner bonuses. We are always interested in acquiring new mares.
